The aspirants paid GHc10,000 for picking the nomination forms.
The filing of the forms is attracting a fee of GHc75,000.
Twice-defeated flag bearer aspirant, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who used to be a Trade and Industry Minister in the J.A. Kufuor administration, proposed that government should set up a bi-partisan economic reconstruction team to tackle the economic challenges of the country.
Speaking to journalists after submitting his nomination forms, he said government should take a serious view of his proposal.
“I believe that it is no longer a matter of public debate that Ghana’s economy is in crisis and I believe that it is our individual collective responsibility as Ghanaians to contribute to finding solutions to this crisis.”
“But government must understand that it has the primary responsibility to lead this effort. I want to make a proposal to government that as a matter of urgency, government should put together a bi-partisan team of advisers and experts to develop and formulate a new economic reconstruction programme for Ghana to find a solution to this crisis.
“I propose that this new economic reconstruction programme should have a private centre on business interest and job creation at the centre of the national development agenda."
Mr Kyerematen also proposed that the programme should be anchored to address all critical issues, first to arrest the decline in the value of the cedi and to significantly reduce government borrowing and reduce inflation on a long-term basis.
He said government should also introduce policy measures that would lead to a decline in interest rates.
He promised to build and activate the grassroots of the NPP into a formidable and efficient campaign machinery to be able to win the general elections in 2016.
For his part, Mr Francis Addai Nimoh said he was the right man to secure victory for the NPP in 2016.
There were supporters at the party headquarters who sang and chanted to support the aspirants.
The General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyapong urged the aspirants to conduct a clean campaign.
