Sissala-East Assembly confirms President’s nominee
The Sissala-East District Assembly in the Upper West Region has confirmed the President's nominee as their District Chief Executive (DCE), after living without one for almost three years.
Mr Johnson J. Saborh, 61, a retired educationist, served as an assembly member in Tumu from 1998 to 2002.
Mr Saborh polled 23 votes out of the 30 votes cast, with five against and two spoilt ballots, thus constituting 77 per cent of the total votes cast.
He was nominated by the President in place of the former President's nominee, Mr Moses Bavie, who was outrightly rejected by the assembly.

The DCE was promptly sworn into office by the Tumu Magistrate Court Judge, His Worship Mr Salifu Ayagiba Bugri, last week Monday.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Saborh commended the President for nominating him and the assembly members for the trust and confidence reposed in him.
He promised to use his vast experience to mobilise the natural and human resources at their disposal to implement development policies and programmes for the area.
He called on the people to transform their votes of confidence into massive co-operation, devoid of ethnic considerations, to accelerate the development agenda of the district.
The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Julius Debrah, commended the people for their confidence in the DCE and asked them to rally around him for prompt development.
By so doing, he said, they would be benefitting from government's policies and programmes which had been rolled out.
