AgriQuinns: Young women entrepreneurs transforming agriculture through innovation

AgriQuinns Ghana, a startup founded by four young women in 2023, is making waves in the agribusiness sector with its innovative approach to sustainable farming.

The company, established through the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) AgriTech Challenge Classic, is proving that resilience, determination, and ingenuity can drive success in agriculture.

The startup specialises in producing organic fertiliser from coconut waste, offering an eco-friendly alternative to chemical fertilisers. By repurposing agricultural byproducts, AgriQuinns is helping farmers improve soil fertility, increase crop yields, and reduce dependence on synthetic inputs. Their initiative not only supports sustainable agriculture but also contributes to rural economic growth and food security.

Despite facing challenges in securing funding at the AgriTech Pro Finals in 2024, the team remained undeterred. They leveraged their expertise, training, and networks to scale their operations and attract customers. Their story underscores that success in agribusiness is not solely dependent on funding but also on passion, perseverance, and a deep understanding of the business environment.

Co-founder Jessica Awaliga highlighted the importance of resilience in their journey, stating: “Success is defined by the impact you create and the challenges you overcome. At AgriQuinns, we chose to keep pushing, and today, we are proving that resilience can lead to remarkable achievements.”

As an all-female-led enterprise, AgriQuinns Ghana serves as an inspiration to young women aspiring to venture into agribusiness. Their success demonstrates that women can play a transformative role in the agricultural value chain.

Through its partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, the Kosmos Innovation Center has provided entrepreneurship training to many young people, including women, creating employment opportunities and fostering business growth.

The success of AgriQuinns stands as a testament to the power of innovation and determination in driving meaningful change in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
