Banku, Powers ready to rumble Friday

Popular cruiserweight fighters, Michael “Ayittey Powers” Okine and Braimah Kamoko, aka Bukom Banku, have declared their battle readiness ahead of their respective fights at the Aborigines Beach Resort at Keta this Friday.

The old foes are due to meet again at the end of the year, but ahead of that duel the two will fight different opponents on the ‘Rumble in Hogbetsotso’ bill on Friday.

Swansea winger Andre Ayew has refused to rule out a move away from the Welsh outfit in the future.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Jacks in the summer from French side Marseille, has been linked to a possible move to Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window following an impressive start to life in the English Premier League.

“Things are said, but I am not thinking about that [moving away from Swansea], it does not interest me,” Ayew told L’Equipe.

Let Grant be in-charge­ — Thompson

 A member of the Black Stars Management Committee and chairman of the GFA Legal Committee, Mr Ernest Thompson, has tasked the local soccer governing body to put Black Stars coach, Avram Grant, in charge of the CHAN team to compel him to stay in the country and scout for local talents.

He recalled how a similar arrangement by the GFA enabled the then Stars’ Serbian coach, Milovan Rajevac, to steer the home-based national team to the final of the maiden African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Cote d’Ivoire in 2009 and urged the FA to repeat same now to help improve the lot of Maxwell Konadu’s team which failed to qualify for the biennial tournament for the first time last Friday.

Dede Ayew, Toure in shortlist for CAF Best Player

Andre Dede Ayew has made the cut in the 10 players shortlisted for this year’s African Best Player Award by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) who released the list last Monday.

Dr Carneiro sues Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is to be the subject of individual legal action from former Chelsea team doctor, Eva Carneiro, the Press Association reports.

It means the Chelsea boss will have to appear at an employment tribunal unless there is an out of court settlement.

Carneiro was dropped from first-team duties after Mourinho said she was "naive" for treating Eden Hazard during a draw with Swansea.

Her lawyers are already suing the club for constructive dismissal.

Roger Federer defeated long-time rival Rafael Nadal 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 on Sunday to win his seventh title at the Swiss Indoors as he played the home final for a record tenth consecutive year.

Federer and Nadal last met in an Australian Open semifinal nearly two years ago and played their last final in Rome in 2013, both of which Nadal won.

Christian Atsu  - Receiving medical attention from Chelsea medics

Atsu returns to Chelsea

Frustrated Christian Atsu is back to his mother club, Chelsea, ostensibly for treatment after picking a stress fracture while on international duty for Ghana last September.

Atsu, whose game-time has been limited to two League Cup appearances since he joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan from Chelsea, has been back at Stamford for almost a month and could spend four more weeks as he struggles to regain his form.

Bournemouth coach, Eddie Hower, questioned on why he was not using the Ghanaian winger, said.
