Oti Regional House of Chiefs congratulate President-elect
The President of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Soglo Alloh IV has extended congratulations to Ghanaians for the peaceful 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections held on December 7, 2024.
He has also congratulated the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the decisive victory and promised the Oti Regional House of Chiefs support in whatever programme and policies the President-elect would be rolling out for the nation.
In a statement, whilst congratulating the President-elect Mr John Mahama, Nana Soglo Alloh IV also said, the Regional House of Chiefs also noted the democratic posture and commended the out-going Vice President and Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party ( NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for his early concession of defeat that has averted any untoward tension which could have arisen after the elections.
“The Oti Regional House of Chiefs wishes to express its profound appreciation to the Chiefs and people for the peaceful and orderly manner in which they organized their affairs during the just ended general elections held on December 7, 2024,” he stated.
Reacting to the recent mob attack on three priests of the Jasikan Diocese of the Catholic Church, he condemned the unprovoked attack on the priests who were about to embark on a project for the benefit of the country.
“Although Mr John Mahama has fully condemned these actions, the Regional House of Chiefs nevertheless called upon political party leaders to caution their members and sympathisers to desist from any violent acts especially as we approach the impending handover of power on January 7, 2025”.
Nana Soglo Alloh IV therefore called on the Police to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted and gave an assurance of their commitment to follow up to ensure that they do the needful, those involved face the full rigours of the law.
