
SONA strikes right chord — Lecturer
A Senior Political Science Lecturer and Head of the Department of Political Science at the University for Development Studies, Dr Gbensuglo Alidu Bukari, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama's State of the Nation Address (SONA), describing it as "very significant" in the nation's political and economic governance.
According to Dr Bukari, the President's call for cooperation among political parties, civil society, and citizens to achieve common goals is a "welcome news" for the country, demonstrating good political leadership.
“His speech reinforces the principle of accountability to the people and provides an opportunity to explain the rationale behind certain policies or actions his government will be taking in the coming years," Dr Bukari noted.

Dr Bukari also commended the President's forward-looking approach, stating that the address “articulates a vision for the nation's future and outlines the steps needed to achieve it.”
He stressed that the essence of the State of the Nation Address laid in its dual role as a report on the nation's current state and a roadmap for its future, serving as a moment of reflection, accountability, and aspiration aimed at uniting the country and guiding toward shared goals.
The Political Science Lecturer, said President Mahama's State of the Nation Address had struck the right chord, that emphasised national unity, resilience, and shared values while outlining a clear vision for the nation's future.
