GBA boss: Consider Dogboe, Lamptey in ratings
The President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Abraham Kotei Neequaye, has made a case for two Ghanaian boxers at the just-ended 38th International Boxing Federation (IBF) Convention in Chicago, USA.
Neequaye spoke of the need for former WBO super bantamweight champion, Isaac Dogboe, and prospect Alfred Lamptey to be considered in the sanctioning body’s ratings.
The GBA boss believes the duo have what it takes to make Ghana proud when given the needed chance to excel by the IBF.
“For Africa, Alfred Lamptey holds the continent’s IBF title and I want to appeal to the board to consider him for the ratings.
“We are also looking at Isaac Dogboe, who is looking at joining the IBF family. He was in the ratings but dropped and I want the board to reconsider their decision and include him in the future,” Neequaye explained at the convention.
Meanwhile, Dogboe is looking forward to bouncing back from his WBO featherweight championship defeat to Robeisy Ramirez last month.
The 28-year-old is hopeful of coming back stronger as he looks to get back into the ratings by remaining active.
Lamptey on the other hand is undefeated in 12 pro fights and wants to continue fighting to get a chance at the world title.
