Mfantsiman Girls to mark 65th anniversary with grand celebration

Mfantsiman Girls' Senior High School will celebrate its 65th anniversary this Saturday (March 15, 2025) with a speech and prize-giving day, as well as a homecoming event at the school premises in Saltpond, Central Region.

This year’s celebration is hosted by the 2000-year group of the Mfantsiman Old Girls Association (MOGA) and is expected to attract over 5,000 old girls and students.

The festivities will span from Friday, March 14, to Sunday, March 16, 2025, featuring a career guidance and counselling session, a candlelight procession, and a fitness session to promote physical wellness.

A grand durbar, which will be attended by dignitaries, old students, and current students, is set to be the highlight of the event. There will also be an awards presentation recognising students who excelled in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and internal school examinations.

The climax of the celebrations will include a thanksgiving service and an inter-house fundraising competition aimed at raising funds for ongoing school projects.

This year’s theme, "Leveraging New Media Technology to Optimise Girl-Child Education," underscores the importance of harnessing technology to address challenges that hinder girls’ access to quality education, particularly in marginalised communities.

The National President of MOGA, Mrs Henrietta Opokua Amissah, expressed optimism about the success of the celebrations and commended the Millennium Year Group (MOGA 2000) for their meticulous planning and dedication in ensuring a memorable event.

Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Ambassador Jane Gasu Aheto as the Guest of Honour, Beatrice Dadson as the Chairperson, and Petra Aba Asamoah, General Manager of Oduma Solutions Limited, as the Guest Speaker.
