Cycling League: Nuru Paadi in good start
Nuru Paadi Alhassan yesterday got his Cowbell Cycling League campaign off to a good start by claiming victory on the opening day of the race.
The Velo Stars rider sprinted to success in the 90-kilometre route which stretched from McCarthy Hill-Mango Line to the Winneba Roundabout and ended at the Accra Stadium.
The experienced 38-year-old cyclist beat Isaac Sackey and Kofi Newton to second and third place respectively in an exciting photo-finish.
Alhassan also won the Best by Time and Best by Points individual honours on a day which saw Velo Stars being named the Best Team.
Frank Akuffo, also from Velo Stars, won the Best Fighter and Best Young Cyclist awards.
The competition continues today with 72 cyclists from 12 clubs taking on an 85-kilometre course which stretches from the Accra Stadium to Mamfe and back.
