Ashgold present trophies to Sir Jonah

League champions Ashantigold yesterday presented two trophies they won this season to Sir Sam Jonah, a former board chairman of the club, at an emotional ceremony in Accra.

The brief ceremony held at the Achimota Golf Club for the first time brought together some of the old executive members of the club, including Captain Andy Sam (retd), former CEO, and John Alexander Ackon, Deputy Minister of Women, Children and Social Protection and a former board member of the club.

“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the technical team, management and the players on their performance and hope that we would look at the opportunity to assist the club in their search for more laurels,” Sir Jonah stated.

Mr Kudjoe Fianoo, the CEO of the club, explained that it was symbolic to present the trophy to Sir Jonah who was the board chairman of the club 19 years ago when they last won it.

“We are hopeful that you will bring your experience and knowledge on board as the club ventures into Africa,” he stated.
