Why we didn't sack Kwasi Appiah – Nyantakyi
The President of the Ghana Foootball Association (GFA), Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi has defended the decision of the association's Executive Committee to retain Kwasi Appiah as coach of the Black Stars, despite his poor showing at the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
Nyantakyi, who announced the decision to retain Appiah at a post-World Cup press conference Wednesday, said sacking him “will not solve our problem”.
“If you go and bring another coach, you are starting from scratch and there is no guarantee for success,” he told Accra-based Peace FM Thursday.
“Sacking people is not an automatic solution to the problem," he added.

Nyantakyi said the FA feels obliged to "help" Appiah and so will work towards upgrading his skills to enable him perform more effectively.
“It’s not yet time for a change of leadership,” he emphasised.
The FA boss said Appiah's immediate task is to rebuild the Black Stars and qualify for AFCON 2015 in Morrocco, which he said Ghana will try to win.
Ghana were eliminated in the first round in Brazil, following 2-1 losses to USA and Portugal and a 2-2 draw with Germany.
The Black Stars earned only one point from a possible nine, condemning them to last position in Group G and marking the first the four-time African champions had failed to progress from the group stage of a World Cup tournament.
The result angered many Ghanaians, who called for Appiah to be relieved of his post by the FA.
Prior to the tournament, the 54-year-old regained the confidence of Ghanaians by becoming the first indigenous coach to qualify Ghana to the World Cup.
Appiah first let Ghanaians down at the 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament held in South Africa, where Ghana emerged a disappointing fourth.
