How Black Stars’ got their $3m cash
The Presidential intervention to send the $3 million to the Black Stars expeditiously in Brazil may have resolved the row in camp, but unknown to the government and Ghanaians at home, it has been a picture for world ridicule and a nation’s shame.
Following reports that the Stars were agitating for the cash payment of their appearance fees of $100,000 each, government as announced by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Joseph Yammin, dispatched a total of $3million by a chartered flight to Brasilia.
As the flight carrying the cash arrived, there was tight security waiting to escort the cash to the Stars’ camp.
Embarrassingly and as if captured for a movie for perhaps, such transactions not often seen in the world, there was a motorcade escort for the cash, scenes of which were shown live on many television networks in Brazil and other parts of North and South America.
