Three killed in violent attack in Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri District
Three individuals have been found dead, their bodies burnt beyond recognition, in Nanik, located in the Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri district of the North East Region, following a violent attack on the community on Friday, February 28.
The violence stems from ongoing tensions between the two neighboring communities over the decision by traditional authorities to elevate the Chief of Nanik to paramountcy status.
Among the victims was 27-year-old teacher Nashiru Maijida, a native of Walewale in the West Mamprusi Municipality. He had been posted to the village of Nanik two years ago.
The charred remains have been transported to Binde Hospital, where they are awaiting autopsy.
