Akpeteshie seller granted bail after allegedly biting customer’s testicle

The Assin Fosu District Court, presided over by His Worship Abdul Majid Iliasu, has granted bail to Esi Affumwaa, a 48-year-old Akpeteshie seller and farmer, for allegedly biting the testicle of a customer during an altercation over GH¢2.40 pesewas.

The accused was granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000, with two sureties, one of whom must be a resident of the court's jurisdiction.

According to Inspector Matilda Osaah Buabeng, the prosecutor, the incident occurred on Wednesday, February 26, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm at Assin Wurakese Camp in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region.

The victim, Karim Osman, a 36-year-old farmer, had visited the accused’s drinking spot to purchase a cigarette. A dispute ensued over an outstanding debt of GH¢2.40, escalating into a heated confrontation.

"The accused allegedly attacked the complainant, hitting his head with a piece of firewood and biting his testicle, resulting in a deep cut and severe bleeding," the prosecutor stated.

Osman reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused. During interrogation, Affumwaa admitted to causing harm, claiming self-defense.

In court, the accused pleaded guilty with an explanation, stating that she acted in self-defense by squeezing the victim’s testicle after he allegedly caused her to fall.

The case has been adjourned to March 13, 2024 for further proceedings.
