Deputy Information Minister fights Asempa FM

Deputy Information and Media Relations Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Tuesday accused Asempa FM of bias after he said the station had played the voices of about six members of the opposition New Patriotic Party as against one from the ruling party.

He said the station on its Ekosii Sen programme had played the voices criticising the government on its Sounds of Our Time segment, some of the content of which contained untruths and put the government in bad light. The station, he said, failed to find the same number of recordings that spoke for the government’s side even though responses to the NPP claims could be available.

That lack of balance and fairness, he said, had the potential to send the wrong signals to listeners as though nothing is working in the country, he said, and counselled that media practitioners guarded against that.

He also responded to claims by the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party that President Mahama’s recent visit to the region only left the people in despair.
