GNASBA launches schools environmental campaign at Nalerigu

The Ghana National Scholarship Beneficiaries Association (GNASBA) has launched its 2014 schools environmental sanitation education campaign at Nalerigu in the West Mamprusi District of the Northern Region.

The programme, which was under the chairmanship of Naa Bohugu Mahami Aboulia Sheriga, Paramount Chief of the Mamprusi Traditional Area, was on the theme: “Restoring the environment to its original state: Our responsibility".

The highlight of the programme was the presentation of 100 litterbins and 60 Fan Milk-branded footballs to 20 selected first and second cycle schools in the district.

At the launch of the campaign, the West Mamprusi District Chief Executive, Mr Adam Imoro, who was the guest of honour, said the theme was not only timely and appropriate but had been introduced at a period when the felling of trees for charcoal production and the insanitary conditions across the country were on the ascendancy.

He commended Fan Milk Limited and the GNASBA for their choice of the district to launch the special national programme  and the presentation of the litter bins and footballs.

Presenting the package from Fan Milk Limited, Mr Kwasi Attuah, the Sales and Marketing Manager of Fan Milk Limited, announced that the company was determined to share its social responsibility cake with all communities in the country, since the health of the people was their number one priority.

In his address, the National Chairman of the GNASBA, Baffour Akwasi Oppong,  said it was through the continuous support of Fan Milk Limited in the past  20 years that the association had been able to carry out its schools environment sanitation education campaigns countrywide, which has led to schools growing thousands of trees, as well as an increase in the country’s school health activities.
