Thirteen-year-old Albert Nii S. Quarcoopome, a student of Tema Parents Association School, has placed Ghana on the global stage after being named a Merit Award Winner in the 37th Annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest.

Albert’s artwork was selected among the top 23 winners worldwide, out of almost 600,000 entries from 65 countries. His participation was sponsored by the Tema Gentlewomen Lions Club of District 418-Ghana, marking a historic milestone for Ghana and Africa in the competition.

The Lions International Peace Poster Contest invites young artists to express their vision of peace through visual art. This year’s theme, "Peace Without Limits," challenged participants to illustrate their ideas of a world in harmony.

Albert’s artwork symbolically depicts people from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds climbing an endless stairway into a world of peace.

"I dream of a world where people—regardless of colour, creed, or ethnicity—work and live together as one," he said, reflecting on his inspiration.

His achievement marks District 418-Ghana’s first-ever victory in the global Peace Poster Contest. Additionally, Ghana is one of only two countries in Constitutional Area 8 (CA8), alongside South Africa, to secure a place in this year’s competition.

As part of his award, Lions Clubs International (LCI) will present Albert and the other 22 merit award winners—who hail from China, Germany, South Africa, the United States, and other nations—with a certificate of merit and a cash prize.

The Grand Prize Winner of the contest will be announced on March 21, 2025, during Lions Day with the United Nations. Updates on the competition will be shared on LCI’s website and social media platforms.

To honour Albert’s outstanding achievement, District Governor Lion Dr. Helena Asamoah-Hassan, PMJF, GLCF, led a delegation of District officers to meet Albert, his parents, and school authorities at Tema Parents Association School.

During the visit, a framed copy of Albert’s winning artwork was presented to him and his school. The District Governor also highlighted Lions International’s long-standing partnership with the United Nations, reaffirming its commitment to global peace initiatives and refugee support.
