‘Adopt right policies to address challenges of urbanisation’

The Director of  Human Resource Development and Capacity Building at the Local Government  Secrvice, James Oppong Mensah, has called for the adoption of the right policies and programmes in addressing the challenges of urbanisation for the nation's transformation process.

 He explained that urbanisation presents an opportunity for the country to plan towards meeting the challenges and opportunities that come with it.

Mr Mensah was speaking at the closing ceremony of a three-week training on  institutionalising operations and maintenance of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the country.

The programme was funded by the Netherlands government under its Nuffic Fellowship Tailor-Made-Training for staff and associate consultants of Urban Management Institute (UMI).

Mr Mensah  indicated that that urbanisation was  an opportunity for the country to formulate the needed policies and programmes that would help shape the planning of town
