51-year-old man jailed 12 years for defilement
A 51-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment by the Accra Circuit Court for defilement.
The convict, Walden Mensah Adams, a sculptor, who portrayed himself as a bible studies teacher to the victim and her friend, is said to have sent the victim’s friend on an errand to enable him to execute his plan of defiling the victim.
Immediately the friend left, Adams is said to have forcibly had sex with the victim.
He then warned her not to disclose the act to anyone or he would strangle her.

Adams pleaded guilty to the offence of defilement of a female under 16 years and was convicted on his own plea by the court, presided over by Ms Sedinam Agbemeva.
Facts of the case
The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Veronica Ofei, said the complainant was the grandmother of the nine-year-old victim.
She said in January 2013, the victim, together with her friend, went to Adam’s house for their usual Bible studies.
