Narh-Bita College commended for excellence
THE Director–General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Ebenezer Appiah Denkyira, has commended the academic staff of the Narh-Bita College for their dedication to work, which reflects in the quality of the products of the college.
Speaking at the 7th graduation ceremony for 291 students from the college who took diploma and certificate courses, he also commended the graduates of the college and advised them to uphold values such as courtesy, good communication, strict adherence to instructions and insight to make them competitive on the job market.
He added that recruitment had become very competitive and did not only depend on brilliance in school but on good human relations of which customer care was a key constituent.
Electronic Management Systems
He disclosed that Electronic Management Systems, which are being introduced at the Narh-Bita Hospital’s wards, would require computer literacy to operate and, therefore, tasked the graduates to sharpen their skills in the use of the computer to make them relevant.
The director– general appealed to the government to regularise the import duties on health products to provide the enabling environment for job creation by the private sector.
He also used the platform to admonish the general public to adapt preventive health measures such as eating nutritious foods, drinking clean water, exercising, resting, regular health checkups, as well as living in good sanitary environments, to stay healthy. He also advised against excessive alcohol intake and smoking.
Results
The President of the college, Dr Edward Ateh Narh, said of the 43 Registered General Nursing students presented for the Nursing and Midwifery Council Examinations, 39, representing 90.7 per cent, passed. One hundred and forty Health Assistant Clinical students were presented for the October /November 2014 licentiate examinations and 120, representing 86.3 per cent, passed, with a female student obtaining distinction.
He highlighted the high value the college placed on its human resource, indicating that it was using the College Staff Development Policy to grant sponsorships to staff to upgrade themselves professionally.
