Barnes Institute celebrates JHS graduates

The Barnes Memorial Institute has held its 21st graduation and passing out ceremony for junior high school (JHS) Form Three students.

The ceremony, which climaxed the 60th anniversary celebration of the school, was also used to inaugurate the student’s cadet corps.

The theme for the anniversary was “Building Ghana through perfect education processes”.

At the ceremony, the Manageress of the Barnes Memorial Institute, Mrs Ursula Patricia Dwira, said the school had provided quality education over the past six decades and continued to help shape the character of students.

“These past 60 years have been exciting and successful in so many ways. Not only do we boast of academic, moral, physical and spiritual development, but the school has also been blessed with many happy memories,” she said.

Mrs Dwira, therefore, thanked the teachers, parents and all those who had played various roles in ensuring that the school achieved its current status.

Inaugurating the cadet corps, the Director of Community Policing, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mrs Habiba Twumasi-Sarpong, said it would inculcate security consciousness among students.

“It also instils discipline in the students for their personal development and smooth transition into responsible adulthood for national development. Again, it encourages students to be law-abiding, nationalistic and patriotic citizens,” she said.
