Plant Pool helps businesses escape ‘dumsor’ worries
J. A. Plant Pool, distributors of heavy duty equipment and buses in the country, has added power-generating sets to its product line to help businesses minimise the impact of the ongoing power challenges on their operations.
The generating sets are the Weichai-branded machines that are manufactured in China by the Weichai Power Generating Equipment Company but imported into the country for retail by Plant Pool, a subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies.
Plant Pool’s Managing Director, Mr Lolu Akindele, said in an interview that his outfit was also in discussions with various companies from different sectors of the economy aimed at helping them find solutions to the power irregularities facing the nation.
“Our business is to provide solutions to the challenges facing other people’s businesses and as you can see now, access to electricity is currently a big challenge facing businesses. That is why we responded by bringing on board the Weichai generating sets,” Mr Akindele said.
While admitting that the expansion into the generating set businesses was solely as a result of the power challenges confronting the country, Plant Pool’s MD dismissed concerns that the company was taking undue advantage of the situation and said it was rather playing its role as a solution provider.
To help insulate interested customers from one-off payments, Mr Lolu said Plant Pool was willing to offer the sets at flexible payment terms to businesses, especially the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
He said he was hopeful the negotiations with the other companies, mostly in the mining and manufacturing sectors, would be concluded soon to enable Plant Pool to assist them to minimise the impact of the current situation on their operations.
