MTN launches internet festival and apps challenge
MTN Ghana has dual launched its annual internet festival (ifest) and the third edition of its apps challenge at the Novotel Hotel in Accra.
Speaking at the launch, CEO of MTN Ghana, Mr Ebenezer Asante Twum said the aim of the launch was to create awareness about the internet and the enormous benefits the digital age offers to consumers and businesses.
According to Asante Twum, the internet is now central to people's livelihoods and has enabled them to stay connected.
He added that the internet if properly used will enhance relationships , improve efficiency and productivity.
Explaining the growth of internet data penetration in Ghana, he said internet penetration grew from 7.8 million subscribers in 2010 to 19.8 million as at 2015 representing a 153%increase.
He said MTN made greater gains with the growth of internet penetration from 2.3 million subscribers in 2010 to 8.1 million as at 2015.
