ABL supports GJA Awards with GH¢34,000 donation

The Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) has presented GH¢30,000 and 150 cases of assorted ABL products valued at GH¢4,000 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) towards the association’s awards ceremony this year.

The Corporate Communications Manager of ABL, Ms Joyce Ahiadorme, congratulated journalists on their dedication to ensuring peace in Ghana, which she indicated had created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

While acknowledging the role of the media in the sustenance of businesses, she said, ‘‘Your willingness to shine the light on ABL’s brands and corporate activities has supported our existence these 85 years.”

“I urge you to continue to use your reportage to protect the peace that the nation enjoys, so that  ABL can continue to work unceasingly to refresh, bring sociability and also contribute to the economic growth of the country for the next 85 years and beyond,” she added.

Support

The ABL, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary, has contributed to numerous activities in Ghana, including capacity development for journalists.

The brewery has, over the years, contributed more than GH¢300,000 to the GJA towards its awards ceremonies in the past, as well as World Press Freedom Day celebrations.

Commendation

The President of the GJA, Mr Affail Monney, commended ABL, whose contributions, he noted, had supported the nation’s economic gains over the years.

‘‘The GJA is grateful to ABL for its consecutive nine-year sponsorship of the Best Reporter in Arts and Entertainment Category of the GJA Awards. Your continuous refreshment and cash donations in support of the awards demonstrate a commitment towards the development of the media and the business environment in the country,” he stated.

“As journalists, we will reciprocate this gesture through our coverage of the elections in a manner that will promote a peaceful environment for businesses such as yours to thrive,” he pledged.
