Ghana’s problems are self-inflicted – Dr Yamson
The Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee, Dr Ishmael Yamson, has stated that the majority of Ghana’s economic challenges are self-inflicted and homegrown.
"Only our leaders and the people of Ghana can and must resolve these problems," he asserted.
Speaking at the 2025 National Economic Dialogue in Accra today, March 3, Dr Yamson urged the public to take responsibility for resetting the country’s trajectory, emphasising that Ghana’s destiny lies in the hands of its own people.
He acknowledged that the journey towards economic transformation would not be easy, warning of obstacles, risks, and frustrations from both internal and external forces.

However, he expressed confidence that success would be achievable with the determined leadership and sense of ownership promised by President John Mahama.
"There are many Ghanaians who are ready to stand with you and work with you to deliver your bold vision," he said. "Like the supporters of a well-known football club not be named, you will not walk alone."
He stressed that the task of resetting Ghana cannot be delayed, warning that, "There is no option. We delay it at our own peril."
