Gyatabi tasked to rule the world

Ghana’s World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Global Super Bantamweight Champion, Wasiru ‘Gyatabi’ Mohammed, has been tasked to take over his division by storm after an impressive knockout win over John Amuzu last Friday.

According to the manager of ‘Gyatabi’, John Manfo, the boxer was in a pole position to take over the world after an explosive fourth round victory in his title defence at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Gyatabi was in superb form when he out-classed Benin’s Amuzu with ferocious punches which led to his opponent being hospitalised at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra before departing to his country.

The win has improved ‘Gyatabi’s’ WBO ratings, having moved to 10th in the latest ranking by the world sanctioning body and is expected to land him a world title shot soon.

World title shot

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Mr Manfo explained that they were looking forward to fighting for the world championship by the end of the year but would consider making a second defence of the WBO Global, should the title shot delay.

“He is in good shape and I want him to take the division by storm after destroying John Amuzu last Friday. This is the only way to improve on your records towards a world title shot.

“From the way he is going, I think he is in a pole position to take over the world and that is what we are working towards. As it stands now, we will try to give him a second title defence if we are unable to secure him an immediate world title shot,” Mr Manfo said.

Relocation to the US

Talking about a possible relocation of ‘Gyatabi’ to the United States of America (USA) to continue with his development and quest for greatness, Mr Manfo said his outfit was looking at securing him a promotional outfit before deciding on that.

He said his outfit would consider signing ‘Gyatabi’ on to the likes of Top Rank Promotions, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and Mayweather Promotions in order to give him the needed recognition in his career.

“It will be great to relocate him to the US but we need to secure him a promotional outfit first before thinking of that so that he can build on his career while there,” he explained.
