Ghana loses Joe Quansah
A former national table tennis star, Joe Quansah, has passed on at age 61.
As a table tennis star, he was under the tutelage of the legendary D.G. Hathramani, an Indian businessman and philanthropist, where he rose to become the national table tennis champion in the ‘70s and early ‘80s.
Quansah hailed from Agona Swedru in the Central Region where he had his primary education at Swedru Salvation Army, then came to Accra and continued at Ayalolo Cluster of Schools. He also had his secondary education at O’Reilly Secondary School in Accra.
He worked as a prison officer for some time and finally left for U.K. in 1982.
He came back to Ghana and settled in Accra but often visited U.K. He worked with Paa Kofi Motors at Abossey Okai where he sold spare parts and finally went back to settle at Agona Swedru where he was doing his own business under the name Speedland Ventures till his untimely death on October 6, 2015.
He is survived by a wife, five children and five siblings.
