George Darko, three others in Morocco
A team of four tennis players, made up of George Darko, Wisdom NA-Adjrago, Japheth Bagerbaseh and Pascal Ziyab Alome , flew to Morocco last Monday for a two-week training tour.
The tour, sponsored by McDan Group of Companies, is expected to improve the skills of the players for them to compete favourably during international tournaments.
Briefing the Graphic Sports about the tour, the Secretary to the Ghana Tennis Federation, Philippina Frimpong said the package included accommodation, feeding and pocket money that would motivate them focus on the training tour at the ITF High Performance Centre in Casablanca.
“They are expected to stay for two weeks, however, if the GTF is able to secure more funds, the team will move to Egypt for the Davis Cup,” she noted.
She said the Sports Minister had assured to raise funds to suport the players in their quest to participate in the Davis Cup tournament scheduled for Egypt between October 26 and 31.
She said already, the Board members had made a passionate appeal to individuals and organisations to support the players in cash and kind to enable them be in Egypt as planned.
