Ghanaian-Australian golfer Danny List has announced plans to expand his foundation’s efforts to support young Ghanaian golfers, providing them with better access to training, competitions, and international exposure.

Speaking at a Meet the Press event in Accra on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, List said his Danny List Foundation has already assisted about 40 young golfers in Ghana by offering coaching, equipment, and opportunities to compete in top-level junior tournaments abroad.

“We’ve expanded a lot over the past year,” he said. “The main goal remains building an academy, but in the meantime, we’re doing everything we can to give kids the opportunities they need to grow in the sport.”

One of the foundation’s biggest successes has been supporting Fati Ahmed Zara, one of Ghana’s top junior golfers. She was sent to England for three months last year to compete in elite junior tournaments, gaining valuable experience and attracting interest from college scouts in the United States.

“She’s now on the radar for potential scholarships, and that’s exactly what we want to see, more Ghanaian players getting chances to compete at the highest level,” Mr List said.

The foundation’s short-term goal is to send more young players abroad for training and competitions, with a strong push for college scholarships.

“Not everyone will turn professional, but college golf provides a great opportunity to get an education while continuing to develop in the sport,” Mr List explained.

Despite the challenges of balancing his professional career with his foundation work, Mr List remains committed to growing the game in Ghana.

“The better I do in my own career, the more I can raise the profile of Ghanaian golf and open doors for young players,” he said.

Mr List is currently in Ghana for a short break before heading to South Africa for his next DP World Tour event.

He hinted at hosting another junior golf clinic later in the year, depending on his tournament schedule.

“The long-term plan is still the academy, but for now, we’re giving the best young players as many chances as possible,” he said.
