The Deputy Minister-Designate for Roads and Highways, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, has assured the public of extensive routine road maintenance to tackle potholes across the country.
Speaking during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on February 26, he emphasised that the Ministry of Roads and Highways has a dedicated unit responsible for routine maintenance, with periodic resource allocation to support its operations.
"The Roads Ministry has a unit that is responsible for routine maintenance, and I am sure that funds are allocated every now and then," he stated.
When asked about sustaining road quality after construction and preventing potholes, Mr Suhuyini reaffirmed his confidence in the leadership of the Minister and pledged his commitment to ensuring that routine maintenance efforts effectively address these challenges.

"I am very confident that he (the Minister) would lead us in ensuring that we direct this routine maintenance work that is supposed to be carried out already by the ministry to addressing this issue that you have correctly identified," he added.
