We need to intensify revenue generation — DCE
Assembly members have been urged to show greater involvement in revenue generation. The Amansie West District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Alex Kwame Bonsu, who made the appeal, said the assembly members should go to great length to make sure that rates and fees due the assemblies were collected to help achieve revenue targets.
He made the call at an ordinary meeting of the Amansie West District Assembly at Manso Nkwanta, and stressed the need for people living in the district to appreciate the importance of paying taxes.
The Amansie West District Assembly estimated to collect GH¢ 334,600 as an internally generated fund last year, but managed only GH¢263,818.03, representing 78.85 per cent.
The DCE said as part of an aggressive push to enhance its finances, the assembly had set up a special task force to carry out massive tax education campaign to promote compliance.

He also expressed concern about the growing encroachment on school lands and said this was totally unacceptable and would not be allowed to continue.
He announced the decision to procure 200 mono desks for distribution to four Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres at Datano, Antoakrom, Keniago and Pakyi Number Two. — GNA
