Prof. Lade Wosornu’s “The Casebook of Dr. O.P.Asem” to be unveiled on World Theatre Day

In celebration of World Theatre Day on Thursday, March 27, a new literary work by renowned Ghanaian professor, Lade Wosornu, is set to be unveiled as part of  “Literature Brewed in Ghana” series, a special collection of literary activities by the Ghana Association of Writers and partners.

In “The Casebook of Dr. O.P.Asem” (first published in 1981 and republished last year) Lade Wosornu brings to patrons a ‘digested’ form of the complex/complicated topics in the consulting room, perhaps from experience or interaction and/or cum acquired knowledge. This is the book set to be unveiled.

“The Unveiling & Review of ‘The Casebook of Dr. O.P.Asem’ “as the name of the event is, is scheduled for Thursday, March 27, at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences (Kwame Nkrumah auditorium) to mark the 2025 World Theatre Day.

Since 1962 World Theatre Day has been celebrated by ITI Centres, ITI Cooperating Members, theatre professionals, theatre organizations, theatre universities and theatre lovers all over the world on the 27th of March.

This day is a celebration for those who can see the value and importance of the art form “theatre”, and acts as a wake-up-call for governments, politicians and institutions which have not yet recognised its value to the people and to the individual and have not yet realised its potential for economic growth.

 Hence, the upcoming event will host a panel review of the book by Dr. Wale Okediran (Secretary General of Pan African Writers Association); Melody Esiawonam Boateng (National Professional Officer, Natural Sciences Sector, UNESCO Office in Accra); Linda Ampah (Author and Adolescents Good Reproductive Health Advocate) and Adjoa Yenyi (Programme Specialist Adolescent and Youth Development) and moderated by Dr. Martin Egblewogbe. Other sessions for the day would dramatic reading from the collection and a conversation with Professor Lade Wosornu.

Dignitaries invited to grace this-all-important event include Honourable Nana Oye Bampoe Addo (Deputy Chief of Staff-Administration); Honourable  Abla Dzifa Gomashie (Minister of Ministry of Tourism, Arts And Culture); Mr Edmond Moukala N'Gouemo (Country Representative of UNESCO) among others.

The event is part of a special collection of literary activities by the Ghana Association of Writers and partners to celebrate Ghana’s literary heritage during the Ghana Heritage Month.

It’s a collaborative efforts between Pan African Writers Association in partnership with the Ghana Association of Writers and Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
