Cadres set up welfare fund for members

The United Cadres Front (UCF), a pressure group within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on cadres to develop interest in taking up political leadership, especially at the district levels, to bring their expertise to bear on the development of the society.

Mr Efanam Nyaku, UCF General Secretary, said cadres must also continue to support the NDC to win political power in the 2016 polls.

Mr Nyaku was speaking at the launch of the Greater Accra Welfare Fund of the UCF. The purpose of the welfare fund is to cater for the well-being of its members. The Greater Accra Welfare Fund is the first of its kind to support the cadres.

Mr Nyaku said the welfare fund would be managed professionally.

Alhaji SA Rhack Nartey, District Chief Executive for Ningo Prampram, said a welfare committee had been formed as a platform for members of the UCF to meet and discuss issues that affected their lives.

Mr Osei Anto Piesie, a member of the executive committee of the NDC, advised all members of UCF to register with the welfare scheme and contribute to make the scheme a success.

He said the members should make it a habit to meet regularly and discuss their welfare needs.

He urged management of the scheme to invest the money in profitable ventures. — GNA
