‘Tsunami Alan’ to hit NPP – Ohene Ntow

Nana Ohene Ntow must have his foot firmly on some weapon, for the former general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is predicting a huge upset in the party’s flagbearer race.

He says an upsetting victory the size of a tsunami will hit the party and he expects that his boss, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen will be crowned as presidential candidate to lead the NPP to election 2016.

Ohene Ntow, currently a spokesperson for Alan, says the victory will come in spite of supposed massive support declared for two-time flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.

The former general secretary was speaking Wednesday on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen talk programme, and said facts on the ground play up a different reality, one quite contrary to the supposed declarations. Many are intimidated to declare support for Nana Addo, he alleged, saying would-be delegates to the party’s Sunday mini congress to reduce the number of persons interested in the flagbearer race have confided that when they are called upon in open meetings to declare their choice in the presence of a candidate, there is little else they could do.

Another contestant in the flagbearer race, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, also on the programme declared the alleged mass support for Nana Addo as the outcome of propaganda, the same hasty conclusions and ill-preparation that has led the NPP to back-to-back defeats at the hands of the NDC.

He said the congress proper will show who really will lead the party and considered his campaign so far as very fruitful. He was hopeful he would be among the five to be selected for the October main national conference to pick the flagbearer.

But Mustapha Hamid, spokesperson for Nana Addo, dismissed the allegation of intimidation and false declarations, saying those rooting for Nana Addo have been candid in their support and will reflect in the ultimate choice.

He said Nana Addo on Tuesday concluded his nationwide interactions with would-be delegates and was using the days ahead to consolidate the engagements, hopeful no tsunami will hit the NPP.
