NPP Steering Committee was not aware of change in guard
First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay has stated that the Steering Committee of the party was not aware of Monday’s change in security guards at the party’s headquarters that resulted in confusion.
According to him, even though there had been some discussions on the need to change security at the office, the committee of which he was a member, was not aware of how far that arrangement had gone.
“One thing is clear, the steering committee of which I am part, do not know anything about it. We were not told. Maybe the Chairman, maybe the Secretary General, but it’s a maybe. I’m not too sure or certain that they ordered it,” he said.
Some new guards had gone to take over duties at the party's national headquarters but the old guards resisted and insisted they did not have information on the new arrangement.

Some policemen were on Monday stationed at the headquarters of the NPP to maintain law and order following a reported clash between two groups of security guards.
That resulted in a confusion and called for the deployment of police personnel to maintain law and order.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr Freddie Blay, said he was not aware of any change over of the security guards.
He said he only heard of the news when another member of the committee, Madam Otiko Djaba called to inform him of the confusion that was ongoing at the party’s headquarters.
He said the situation has been brought under control except that the security men could not give details of who asked the new guards to take over.
“There haven’t been too much of a problem now and everything is going on as usual. We are now trying to find out who gave that order,” Freddie Blay said.
