Let’s work together — Otiko

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ms Otiko Afisa Djaba, has asked the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Bugri Naabu, to join hands with her to promote the vision and aspirations of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to her, it is only when they join forces that they can work to address the challenges confronting Ghanaians.

Meeting disrupted

The two leading members of the governing NPP were at each other’s throat, accusing each other of being disrespectful.

According to Starrfmonline.com, an incensed Bugri Naabu led a team of women to vandalise property at a venue being used by Ms Djaba for a meeting in Tamale last Friday.

He alleged that the minister failed to inform him of her presence in the region which amounted to disrespect.

Needless fight

Ms Djaba, however, noted that the misunderstanding should not bring any disunity, adding that everybody in the party has the responsibilitry to work in fulfilling the campaign promises of the party to the electorate.

First Lady’s assignment

Kasapa FM’s Northern Regional Correspondent, Eliasu Tanko, reported that Ms Djaba commented that she had gone to Tamale to meet the women groups at the instance of the First Lady, Madam Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

Having concluded the First Lady’s assignment, she decided to meet the women organisers of the NPP “to say a big thank you for working tirelessly to win power for the party.”

In reaction to suggestions that she came to meet the women in connection with the School Feeding Programme, Ms Djaba said, “No, it wasn’t about the School Feeding Programme at all. I had come to Tamale to honour the First Lady’s assignment and after that I decided to greet the women.”

She admitted, however, that issues of the School Feeding Programme came up during the meeting but noted that “I told the women that nobody has been contracted to execute the School Feeding Programme. I also told them that we are waiting for President Akufo-Addo’s DCE appointees to be confirmed before we will give the green light for people to apply.”
