Keen contests await NDC MP aspirants in V/R
The Volta Regional Minister and Member of Parliament(MP) for the Krachi West Constituency, Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso and the MP for Ho Central, Mr Benjamin Kpodo are the only persons going unopposed to contest the parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Volta Region.
There are a total of 95 aspirants, comprising 83 males and 12 females who are in potentially keen contests. In some constituencies, more than five persons have filed their nominations to contest the primaries.
The Anlo Constituency tops all with seven contestants including the District Chief Executive, Mr Sylvester Tornyeavah, challenging the incumbent MP, Mr Kofi Humado. Others are Mr Wonder Victor Kutor, Mr Richard Sepe, Mr Mawuenyegah Gandhi, Mr Alex Doe and Frank Torblu.
Keen contests
Constituencies in which six aspirants had filed nominations were Biakoye, Akan and Afadjato South and five aspirants each in the Ketu South, Nkwanta South, North Tongu, and South Tongu constituencies.
They are Mr Emmanuel Bandua, the incumbent, Mr Kwadzo Nyanpor Aboagye, Mr Jacob Letsa, Ms Jean Marie Formadi, Mr Stephen Akpalu, and Mr Dennis Ofori–Asiedu for Biakoye and Mr Reuben Kwamla Kornu, Ms Susie Afua Adoboe, Ms Kafui Augusta Takyi, Ms Angela Alorwu-Tay, Mr Eben Kay Hodo and Mr Vitus Agbesi Nutsu and Abdul Fattah Mohammed for Afadjato South.
The rest are Mr Abdul Aziz Muniru, Mr Matthew Brains Kudo, Mr Ahmed Muniru, Mr Daniel Danquah Ansah and Mr Abdul –Fattah Mohammed for Akan.
Those for Nkwanta South are Mr Geoffrey Kini, Mr Gershon Kofi Gbediame (incumbent), Mr Solomon Sarpong Bagmae, Dr Felix Anebo, and Narayana Osei Nyarko. For Ketu South, Mr Franklin Fiavi Fifi Kwetey, the incumbent, Mr Jim Yao Morti, Mr Sylvanus Amedorme, Mr Albert Zigaha, former MP, and Mr Famous Kuadugah are in the race. In North Tongu, the contestants are Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa the incumbent, Mr Charles Hodogbey, a former MP, Mr Christopher Eleblu, Mr Bennet Korbla Appleh and Mr Christian Akaho-Tay, while those who filed for South Tongu were Mr Kobena Mensah Woyome, the incumbent, Mr Emmanuel Nusetor, Mr Romeo Hademe, Mr Yao Amekor and Mr Maxwell Lukutor.
Four candidates filed in each of the Keta, Ketu North, Ho West, South Dayi and Akatsi North constituencies.
They are Mr Richard Mawuli Quashigah, the incumbent, Mr Bartholomew Kofi Kukubor, Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey and Mr Rockyfeller Amudzi Tettey for Keta, Mr James Klutse Avedzi, the incumbent, Mr Stevens K.M. Ahiawordor, Mr Don Emmanuel Agbanyo and Mr Kwaku Treveh will go for Ketu North, while Mr Emmanuel Bedzrah, the incumbent, Mr Nukomeko Delight Koku Tettey, Mr Biadela Mortey Akpadziu and Mr Alexander Senyo Bediaku had filed for Ho West. Mr Simon Edem Asimah the incumbent, Ms Bertha Ansah-Gjan, Mr Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor and Frank Dei are contesting in South Dayi and Mr Peter Nortsu-Kortoe, the incumbent, Dr Stephen Torkpo, Dr Donald Agumenu and Bernard Ahaifor had filed for Akatsi South.
Those for Krachi Nchumuru are Mr John Majisi, Mr John Sanja and Mr Isaac Agyange and for Krachi East are Mr Wisdom Gidisu, the incumbent, Mr Emmanuel Renald Kofi Duh and Mr Nathaniel Attah-Gyamfi.
For Buem, Mr Daniel Ashaimah, the incumbent, Ms Joyce Yaa Osei and Ms Mercy Akromah are in the race for Hohoe Constituency, Dr Mrs Bernice Adiko-Heloo the incumbent, Mr Theophilus Dzimegah, Dr Ken Ahorsu while Ms Dela Sowah, the incumbent, Mr Charles Nkansah and Anthony Kofituo Morrison will contest the primaries in the Kpando Constituency with Ms Joycelyn Tetteh, Professor Bright Kodzo Gavua and Mr George Loh, the incumbent will contest in North Dayi.
Mr Charles Agbeve, Mr David Dzreke and Ms Akusika Kpene Ansah will contest in Agotime- Ziope with Mr Alexander R. Hottordze, Mr Joe Kwashie Gidisu, the incumbent, Mr Frank Agbanator for the Central Tongu Constituency.
Straight battles
The contest at Adaklu Constituency is a straight battle between the incumbent, Mr Kwame Agbodza, and Mr Raymond Akpatsa and similarly for the Nkwanta North Constituency where the incumbent, Mr John Oti Bless, will lock horns with Mr Solomon Bachabori.
