Tertiary institutions charged to Develop productive management strategies
The Vice–Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye, has advised tertiary institutions to develop effective management strategies in order to be more competitive.
The effective management of any system, he said, enhanced communication, propelled leadership skills and also encouraged institutions to adapt to current trends in their field of operation.
“Ghana will continue to attract foreign students and, for that matter, foreign earnings if we all come together to foster the effective management of our universities and university colleges,” he stated.
Congregation/graduation
Prof. Teye made the call at the ninth congregation and 49th annual graduation ceremony of the Ghana Christian University College (GCUC) at Amrahia in Accra at the weekend.

Speaking on the theme: “Celebrating Excellence in Transformational Service,” Prof. Teye said as part of their transformational strives, tertiary institutions, must contribute towards the country’s economic development in diverse ways.
“We must not be looking at the primary and secondary goods such as cocoa, timber, oil and gas but also take a critical look at how our tertiary educational institutions contribute to foreign earnings,” Prof. Teye said.
Commendation
“In a very short time, the GCUC has introduced a degree course such as Bachelor of Science in Nursing and diploma courses in programmes such as Oil and Gas Management and Journalism,” he said.
One hundred and thirty-four students graduated with Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees in Management Studies and Theology, Diploma in Human Resource and certificates in pastoral ministries.
The Chairperson of the Council of GCUC, Dr Adelaide Kastner Quaye, commended the graduates for their performances.
