Suspected robber arrested with military uniforms

A suspected robber has been arrested by the Anyaa Police in a swoop, leading to the discovery of five military uniforms in his room.

The 25-year-old, Yakubu Amidu, was arrested in a single room at Tabora, a suburb of Accra.

The Odorkor District Police Command has jurisdiction over the area and is handling the case.

 

Robbery at Tabora 

According to the Odorkor District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, Mr Abraham Acquaye, the suspect was arrested on Sunday, April 27, 2014 when the police embarked on a swoop to curb the activities of miscreants in th area.

He said for some time now residents of Tabora and its environs had experienced series of robbery incidents.

“Information received from the victims of the recent robbery incidents is that the perpetrators were in military uniform.”

He said in the course of the swoop, Amidu was found hiding in the room.

Even though the suspect told the police the room belonged to a friend and that he did not know the owner of the military uniforms he had since been charged with unlawfully possessing military accoutrements.
