Prempeh College commended for performance in Science and Maths quiz
The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Mrs Mary Owusu-Achiaw, has commended the Headmaster of the Prempeh College and his staff for their excellent performance that made the school win the 20th edition of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz.
The school has won the competition for the third time and therefore has the giant trophy for keeps.
A similar record was achieved by the Presbyterian Boys Senior Secondary School (PRESEC) in Accra, which was the first school to win the competition with such enviable performance and also won the giant trophy for keeps.
Mrs Owusu-Achiaw made the commendation when the headmaster of the school, Mr E.K. Yeboah, accompanied by the tutors of the department of Science and Mathematics, called on her to show the trophy to her and also introduce the students who made them proud.
They were led by the Kumasi Metropolitan Director of Education, Ms Augusta Akyaa Sarpong.

The students: Daniel Aboagye Danso, Ransford Bio and Joseph Nanoa, were among 23 students who were selected to represent the school in the National Science and Mathematics Quiz competition.
Congratulations
Mrs Owusu-Achiaw congratulated the students on winning the trophy, which she said was a prestige to both the school and the region and urged them to keep it up.
She debunked the notion that “pupils who go to the public schools do not do well” and stressed that there were many basic schools which were doing their best and the students who represented the school were a true reflection of that.
She advised the students to not be complacent but to rather continue to learn hard and attain greater academic laurels.
The regional director specifically thanked Mr George Abankwa, the head of the Science Department and his team, for the department’s wonderful performance and encouraged them to continue to work hard.
She also praised the headmaster for providing the requisite logistical support, and gave the assurance that her outfit was prepared to rally behind schools in the region that would take part in such competitions.
Mr Yeboah, for his part, thanked the regional director for her inspiring words and assured her of the school's eagerness to bring more laurels to the region.
