Korle Bu main surgical theatre to be closed for renovation

The main surgical theatre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital will Wednesday, July 17, 2013 be shut down for renovation works.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mustapha Salifu, noted that the renovation work on the theatre will start with immediate effect and is expected to be completed by the end of October 2013.

The renovation work, according to the statement is part of the on-going major retooling of the Hospital being funded by the Government through the Ministry of Health.

Thus, only urgent and emergency surgical cases will be attended to in alternative theaters in the hospital.

“Patients who have been previously given appointments for surgery should bear with their doctors when they are rescheduled, as this refurbishment will result in improvements to theatre services, provided by the Hospital,” the statement further said.
