Immanuel Methodist Society choir donates to LEKMA hospital
The Immanuel Methodist Society, which belongs to the Airport East Circuit and part of North Accra Diocese, has presented some assorted items worth several hundreds of Ghana Cedis to the LEKMA hospital in Accra.
The presentation of the items formed part of the 20th anniversary of the church’s choir, which is being celebrated on the theme: “20 years of discipleship; singing to God with gratitude in our hearts.”
The items included bed sheets, toiletries, and some food items.
The choir went to the hospital to first of all, minister the word of God to the patients and also prayed with them.
Jesus cares
The Supporting Minister of the Circuit, Very. Rev. John K. Appiah Acheampong, in a short interaction with the patients, urged them to continue to trust God for their healing.
He said Jesus cared about the sick and the poor while on earth and that as a church, they would not turn their backs to the sick and the poor in society.
He explained that anybody who encountered Jesus had a change of life, stressing that there was still hope for those who trust and believe in Jesus.
Very. Rev. Appiah Acheampong also said Jesus, when on earth, did not only take care of the spiritual needs of the people who came to him but their physical needs as well.
The Choir Master, Dr Joel Yarney, said the choir chose the LEKMA hospital because of its proximity to the church as well as its key services to the people around Teshie and its environs.
He has, therefore, called on other churches and benevolent organisations, as well as individuals to continue to follow the example of Christ by sharing their joy with the poor and the sick in the society.
He said the Choir has held an event dubbed: “Hymns and their meanings” and would also hold a musical concert on September 21, this year.
Executives/commendation
Some of the executives who were present during the presentation, included the Assistant Choir Master, Mr Fiifi Brandford; Chairman of Airport East Circuit Choir, Mr Chris Lartey; Mr Kow Arkhurst, and Evangelist Tailor Sampson.
Receiving the items on behalf of the church, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services (DDNS), Madam Stella Siriboe, thanked the choir and pledged that the items would be used to achieve the purpose for which they were donated.
