Obasanjo endorses Cultural Oneness Festival

A former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has endorsed the upcoming second edition of the Cultural Oneness Festival powered by Taste Of Afrika.

The iconic endorsement took place in Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State in southwest Nigeria.

Abeokuta is the abode of the former President, who now bears the traditional rulership name Chief Olusegun Okikiola Ogunboye Aremu Obasanjo.

The endorsement and support from former President Ọbasanjọ marked a significant moment as the people of Ghana, Africa and diasporans prepare to celebrate unity in diversity via the Cultural Oneness Festival.

The Taste Of Afrika delegation was led by the Nandom Naa and President of the Nandom Traditional Council, Professor Edmund Delle.

During the interaction with the former Nigerian leader, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Taste Of Afrika, Tengol K. Kplemani, led collaborative discussions with their host regarding the Cultural Oneness Festival initiative.

Former President Obasanjo subsequently stressed that he fully recognised the potential of the Cultural Oneness Festival and viewed it in terms of his personal struggle throughout his political, social and economic journey in Nigeria, Africa and beyond.

Benefits

President Obasanjo expressed optimism about the future, saying it had prospects of enormous benefits to the people of Ghana and Africa, adding that the rest of the world stood to gain from the Cultural Oneness Festival project when it was given the needed push, support and recognition.

“I am very happy to see my brothers and sisters from Ghana embark on this massive project to promote culture, arts and tourism in Northern Ghana and beyond via the Cultural Oneness Festival. Today, I can assure you that I am into this project fully, and I, Olusegun Obasanjo, endorse it. Ghanaians should expect to see me at the event in Northern Ghana,” he stated.

Former President Obasanjo’s endorsement underscores the Cultural Oneness Festival’s pivotal role in fostering cultural understanding and strengthening social cohesion.

The Cultural Oneness Festival organisers expressed gratitude to the former Nigerian President for his endorsement and support, emphasising its significance in enhancing the festival's visibility and impact.

"Mr Obasanjo’s support is a tremendous honour," the festival CEO said. "It highlights the festival's mission to promote unity and diversity through cultural exchange and continental visibility for economic empowerment," Mr Kplemani added.
