Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, in partnership with Breast Care International (BCI), has marked World Cancer Day with a bus stop campaign on the theme: ‘Closing the Care Gap’.

As part of its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, BE Health, the hotel aimed to educate and raise awareness about cancer.

The bus-stop campaign, located at the bustling Bishop Bus Stop on High Street in Accra, near the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum, featured visually appealing and informative messages about cancer.

Together with representatives from Breast Care International, the staff of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City engaged with approximately 1,500 individuals, including private and commercial vehicle passengers and pedestrians.

Participants were educated on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and encouraged to seek early medical care, with an emphasis on the fact that early detection saves lives.

A cancer survivor, Eunice Saxon, was present to share her story and demonstrate that cancer is not a death sentence.

Melissa Bediako, the Director of Sales and Marketing at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, reiterated the hotel’s commitment to supporting this vital cause.

She stated, ‘We are committed to giving back to the community and promoting health awareness. As we look forward to celebrating 10 years of providing luxury hospitality in Ghana, our CSR initiatives, such as BE Health, drive our passion for giving back to the community that continues to support our growth.’

The BE Health initiative is a comprehensive corporate social responsibility programme by Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra.

The hotel’s commitment includes sponsoring healthcare professionals to receive oncology training, as well as providing patient support to those affected by breast cancer.

In her remarks, Regina Amegadzi Dadoh of BCI commended Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra for its continued support in raising breast cancer awareness in Ghana.

‘Together, we can make a difference in the lives of women and families affected by breast cancer,’ she stated.
