The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) will hold its 2025 Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) from March 24 to 29, 2025, in Accra.
According to the Ag. Executive Director of GhIE, Samuel Magnus Asiedu, the Youth in Engineering Forum will be held at the Engineering Centre on Monday, March, 24, while the Engineering Craftsmen forum will be held in the afternoon the same day. The institution will welcome its international delegates at the Engineers Centre on Monday evening, March 24, 2025.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in Accra.
The 55th AGM will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Engineering Centre, Roman Ridge, Accra.

On the evening of Thursday, March 27, 2025, the Presidential Investiture to hand over the mantle of leadership of GhIE from Kwabena Bempong to the President-Elect, Ludwig Hesse, will be held at the engineering centre.
Conference
The conference will climax with a Banquet/Dinner Dance on Friday evening, March 28, 2025, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, where the Engineering Excellence Awards will be held to award deserving Engineering Professionals, Engineering Technologists, Craftsmen, Engineering organisations, Engineering students and schools who have distinguished themselves in the year under review.
The annual GhIE Conference and AGM is a week set aside annually to bring together all professional engineers, professional engineering technologists, engineering technicians and engineering craftsmen including affiliates from diverse engineering backgrounds to share ideas and knowledge on the conference theme.
The conference also serves as an opportunity for engineering practitioners and affiliates from diverse backgrounds to network for collaborations, create awareness of engineering in the country and for the professional body to make decisions at the AGM.
Speaking to the media about his expectation of the upcoming conference, the President of GhIE, Kwabena Bempong said the conference was expected to be attended by world leaders in the engineering profession from all walks of life, with the Presidents of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO), the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO), the West African Federation of Engineering Organisations (WAFEO) are all expected to attend.
President John Dramani Mahama and the sector ministers are also expected to grace the opening ceremony on March 25, 2025, in Accra.
To be held on the theme: “Urbanisation and Smart Cities: Engineering, the Future of Ghana,” Mr Bempong said it had been carefully chosen to reflect the current state of urbanisation and how Smart City concepts could be tapped to transform Ghana.

The expected foreign engineering partners attending the conference are the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers, the Engineering Society of Liberia, the Alliance Consulting Engineers (Liberia), the World Council of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Engineers Kenya, the Institution of Engineers Rwanda, Ordre des Ingénieurs en Génie Civil du Burkina Faso and many more.
Mr Asiedu reminded all engineering practitioners registered under GhIE that nine Continuous Professional Development points would be credited to any GhIE member who registers and attends the conference this year.
