Assemblies of God retired ministers, spouses undergo free health screening
The Lordina Foundation has organised a second free health screening programme for members of the Assemblies of God Retired Ministers and Spouses Association in Accra to impact their health and well-being.
The quarterly programme, held last Saturday, was initiated by the First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, who is the Founder and President of the Lordina Foundation, with the first edition held in September last year.
It is in fulfilment of a pledge made by the First Lady towards impacting the health and well-being of the retiree ministers of the church and their spouses.
The First Lady, who is a member of the Assemblies of God church, has since organised a quarterly health screening exercise for them and provided free medication that will last them for three months or more before the next programme.

Mrs Mahama said “opportunities are presented to us at every stage of life, and every opportunity comes with a pedestal on which to stand to do more not only for ourselves but also for others”.
Lordina foundation
She said “health is wealth” and that the Lordina Foundation would be working to make health care easily accessible not only for a privileged few, but to make it a right for everyone in consonance with the motto of the foundation: “The more we share, the more we have“.
She pledged the foundation’s commitment to scale-up support to cover many in society to improve lives.
Services provided
Seasoned medical consultants deployed for the screening exercise included urologists, gynaecologists, dietitians, opticians and general practitioners, while beneficiaries received services in laboratory tests for blood sugar levels, Hepatitis B, cancers and prostate health.
Beneficiaries also received free medications as well as snacks as they waited for their turn.
The association's President, Reverend Dr Harry Insaidoo, said one of the biggest challenges facing the association was how to handle the health of its members.
He said every time they met as a group, the conversation was always about their health and well-being.
Medical needs
Reverend Dr Insaidoo said during an interaction at church, the First Lady heard about their plight and stepped in by pledging that henceforth, she would assist the retirees with their medical needs through the quarterly health screening exercise.
