ARB Apex Bank, Ashanti rural banks support Heal Komfo Anokye Project

The ARB Apex Bank PLC and 22 rural banks in the Ashanti Region have come together to donate a total of GH¢160,000 to support the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, an initiative aimed at improving the infrastructure of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The donation, which includes GH¢50,000 from ARB Apex Bank and GH¢110,000 from the rural banks, was made in recognition of the hospital’s critical role in healthcare delivery.

KATH, Ghana’s second-largest teaching hospital, handles about 80 per cent of hospital referrals and serves 12 out of the country’s 16 regions.

The Heal Komfo Anokye Project was launched as part of the 25th anniversary legacy project of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The initiative seeks to mobilise funds to renovate and modernise KATH, ensuring improved healthcare services.

Speaking during the presentation, the Head of Corporate Affairs of ARB Apex Bank PLC, Maximus Attah, emphasised that healthcare remained a key focus of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts of the bank.

“Every year, we allocate a significant portion of our CSR budget to support various health-related causes in the communities we serve. We do this because we believe that a healthy workforce is the foundation of a productive and prosperous nation,” he stated.

Mr Attah expressed the hope that the donation would help bring the needed facelift of the KATH and improve healthcare delivery.

Gratitude

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the hospital, the Chief Executive Officer of KATH, Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, expressed gratitude to the bank and the rural banks for their generosity.

He urged other corporate organisations and associations to contribute towards the project.

“In fact, we believe that if every corporate institution and association should emulate ARB and the banks, we shall raise enough funds to complete the project in record time,” he said.

Prof. Addai-Mensah further reiterated the Asantehene’s appeal for broad public support, emphasising that “no amount is too small” in the collective effort to give KATH a much-needed facelift.
