
Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital reviews performance for 2015
Malaria, ear, eye, respiratory, and acute urinary tract infections, diarrhoea, dental, Rheumatism and other joint pains, Skin diseases and Gynaecological conditions were the 10 top causes of attendance at the Out-patient Department (OPD) of the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani.

There was a total of 21,056 of these cases recorded at the hospital in 2015, as against 25,825 in 2014, showing a drop of 3,769.
These came to light at the 2015 Annual Performance Review meeting of the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani.
Acute ear infections overtook malaria cases in 2015, recording 3,417 as against 3,206 by the latter, during the year under review. Malaria cases had topped the list with 5,787 out of the total cases in 2014, representing 13.4% of the total reported cases for that year.

The Regional Hospital, however, posted about 49 per cent reduction in maternal deaths between 2012 and 2015. There were 35,18, 14 and 17 recorded cases in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Addressing the two-day review meeting, the Medical Director of the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital, Dr Jacob Abebrese, said his outfit was committed to the provision of quality health care to the people in the region, to ensure higher productivity for societal growth, development and transformation. He said the hospital would use every available resource at its disposal to fulfil that commitment.
Dr Abebrese urged all stakeholders in the health care delivery system to play their respective roles effectively to ensure quality health care delivery in the region and beyond.

The Hospital Administrator, Mr Abraham Kwame Asare Bediako, urged staff of the hospital to go the extra mile in the discharge of their duties, so that they could give the best of services to their clients.
He said a little bit of sacrifice and creativity, would make them exceptional in bringing some life into the lives of the numerous distressed patients who throng the hospital daily for health care services.
