Activa honours Melcom insurance claim
Activa International Insurance Company Ghana Limited has presented a cheque for $1, 628, 813 to Melcom Group of Companies as the final payment of a $4.18 million claim as a result of a fire outbreak at a warehouse belonging to the company in the North Industrial Area in Accra on January 3, 2015.
The Deputy Managing Director of Activa Insurance, Mr Solomon Lartey, who handed over the cheque, reiterated the need for companies to insure their assets with insurance companies which had the financial and technical capacity to support them in times of difficulty.
Mr Eric Addo-Mensah, the Chief Operating Officer of Midas Insurance Brokers, encouraged businesses to be serious with insurance and expressed appreciation to Activa Insurance and its partners for showing leadership and class in insurance service delivery in Ghana.
He also urged all companies and individuals to ensure that their assets and liabilities were insured.
It will be recalled that on January 3, 2015, fire gutted Melcom’s warehouse at the Melcom Service Centre and the Crown Star Assembly Factory at the North Industrial Area, destroying the building, stock of goods, office furniture and fittings belonging to the Melcom Group of Companies.
