2025 Budget: Mahama administration pledges to restore economic stability and uphold fiscal discipline

The Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has assured Ghanaians that the Mahama-led administration is committed to restoring economic stability and adhering strictly to fiscal discipline.

Presenting the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy in Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, Dr Forson reiterated that the government would fully comply with public procurement processes while ensuring expenditures remain within the approved budget.

“We will respect the limit of the appropriations as approved by Parliament,” he affirmed.

The Finance Minister further emphasised that President John Dramani Mahama is taking decisive steps to address Ghana’s economic challenges.

“He will fix the economy, restore hope and build the Ghana we want,” he declared.

Dr Forson noted that the Mahama administration inherited an economy deeply in crisis, weighed down by heavy debt burdens. Despite these challenges, he assured Parliament that measures were being put in place to stimulate economic recovery and sustainable growth.

On the much-discussed 24-hour economy policy, Dr Forson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to its implementation.

“We will be presenting the 24-hour economy policy to Parliament in due course,” he stated, highlighting the administration’s determination to drive economic productivity through round-the-clock business operations.

In the area of infrastructure, the Finance Minister revealed that the government currently owes road contractors 100 billion Cedis. While acknowledging this debt, he assured that plans were underway to address outstanding payments and accelerate critical road projects.
